From proper product identification to standardized identifiers to meet new traceability obligations, Alain & Vincent from GS1 Canada will share key information about this new FDA regulation and the role GS1 Canada plays in the overall process. This regulation affects all Canadian food producers trading predefined commodities, who export their products to the US. Specifically impacted products include high-risk foods like seafood, fresh produce, dairy and ready-to-eat meals.

A seasoned leader in the Canadian CPG industry with over 15 years of experience driving strategic partnerships and growth. He is currently the Director of Industry Relations at GS1 Canada, where he collaborates with retailers and leads the organization’s traceability strategy.

Prior to GS1 Canada, Vincent held key roles at Instacart Canada, Shopper Intelligence, and the Advantage Group, specializing in sales strategy, consumer insights and market research. With a strong background in strategy and analytics, he enjoys finding innovative solutions and helping businesses navigate industry challenges.

GS1 Canada

Alain is an Advisor with the Community Engagement team at GS1 Canada. This new division was created in early 2022 with the main objective of supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs get their products to market quickly and efficiently.

Part of his mandate is to work closely with Trade Associations and Educational Institutions alike.
The goal being to support, educate and familiarize their members with GS1 Global Standards emphasizing the importance of minimizing start up and scale up hurdles along the way.
