About the Presenter

Matt Symes is a family-focused serial entrepreneur and CEO of Symplicity Designs, known for leading major strategic transformations across more than 500 organizations in the public and private sectors. He is the AI Entrepreneur-in-Residence at UNB’s Technology Management & Entrepreneurship (TME) program, a transformation strategist, and an AI-first organizational architect. With a portfolio of nine companies including Epoch Chemistry, a Moncton-based speciality coffee roaster and cafe, he has helped scale multiple businesses—including taking a CPG firm from $20M to $155M, transforming the Francophone Education System into one of the fastest-improving globally, and growing a construction firm from $42M to $180M.  Recognized as the Halifax Chamber’s 2020 Business Leader of the Year and an Atlantic Business Magazine Top 50 CEO (2022–2025), he brings a unique lens shaped by studies at UNB and Wilfrid Laurier, a background in military history, and a commitment to social impact through Symplicity’s B-Corp status. Based between Halifax and Moncton, he’s an avid long-distance runner aiming to complete marathons on all seven continents and a proud Girl-Dad who finds purpose in both his family and his work.
